INDIAN YOUTH TODAY

"We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for
the future"

-Franklin D. Roosevelt

Think about an educated Indian youth. Imagine the picture that comes to your mind! A somewhat boring, conventional young man. He is respectful and knows his roots. He wants a home, a car, a wife. A couple of EMIs hovers over his mind. He expects to ‘settle down’ by his late-20s.

But is this just a Delhi/Mumbai perspective/ or does it applies to all Indians? Why are we such a dull generation? We had more opportunities than the older generations. We grew up with more access to information, more choices, more money and prospective like never before.

According to the Business World magazine, “almost half the 5,485 young people surveyed across 15 cities such as Kochi, Jaipur or Bangalore are willing to do a job that is boring if they earn enough money. Over half are religious (just to please their elders) and more than 72 per cent would happily marry a person their parents chose (No matter if you ever fall in love with that person or not) In fact, more than half want to get married. They are very close to their parents. More than three-fourths make their career choices with the help of their parents and they believe in the joint family.”

DON’T WE NEED A CHANGE???
